candle care guide
-
Pure Soy wax is eco-friendly and supports American Soy farmers. Pure Soy wax burns without creating soot or smoke unlike paraffin or other wax blends. Pure Soy wax burns cooler and lasts longer than other waxes and has a lower melting point so please protect your candle from direct sunlight or other heat sources.
-
Soy wax can be cleaned from surfaces using hot soapy water. Although it is bio-degradable, it is still wax so please do not pour it down your drains!
-
When lighting your Farmhouse Expressions candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt all the way to the sides of the jar, this takes roughly 1 to 3 hours. Failure to do so may cause tunneling that will limit the life of your candle.
-
Note that pure Soy wax candles require a thicker wick to burn properly and, as a result, it is necessary to trim the wick. Please be sure to trim your wick to 1/4" above the solid wax before re-lighting the candle.
-
Extinguish your candle by dipping the wick into the liquid wax and then straightening it back up. This will prevent smoke and will aid in lighting the next time.
-
Remember, our candles are hand poured and not mass produced in a factory so slight differences between candles is normal! For example, the level of the wax in your candle may be slightly uneven, this is just normal when a soy candle is hand poured.
